UM establishes diversity center

The University of Michigan has launched a National Center for Institutional Diversity on the Ann Arbor campus. It will bring together leaders and scholars from a variety of fields to "move the discussion of diversity beyond the issue of representation." Patricia Gurin, acting director of the center, said it will operate as "a think-tank, incubator, venture fund, clearinghouse and publisher."
